Yesterday I purchased a used Wellbrook Loop for future installation at a remote location. There was a small problem with the 12v power injector, which was quickly rectified. Installed at home for testing, the signals were weaker compared to the large aperture loop – which was to be expected – but the noise was lower as well. For the time being, I am testing combining both ALA100LN and ALA1530S+ antennas together – with the small loop rotated 90 degrees from the large loop to create a more omnidirectional receive pattern.
An early observation is a reduction of local interference on the 80m band when the plane of the ALA1530S+ loop is 90 degree offset from the static ALA100LN loop:
